All glass ceramic hobs, induction and electric, as well as freestanding glass ceramic hobs from Bosch, and other companies, use touch control. One day you notice that the hob sensor does not respond to touch. What to do in this case?

Procedure in the case when the sensor on the hob does not work at all or works poorly:

1. Reset the touch control panel by disconnecting the appliance from the 220 V network and waiting 1-2 minutes.

2. Thoroughly clean the hob from grease and dirt deposits.

How to understand that the sensor does not work on the hob panel? If the sensors do not respond to the touch of your finger or react with a delayed reaction, you will not be able to use the hob, even though the other components of the hob are in good working order.

Despite the fact that there are not so many reasons why the sensor does not work on the hob, it will not be possible to determine it without disassembling the hob. The reason may be a banal wiring fault, poor contact, or failure of the electronic control module. Features of induction hobs
Unlike electric, induction hobs use a different type of heating element – induction coils, which under the influence of voltage create an electromagnetic field with a high frequency. The magnetic field heats the ferromagnetic alloy inside the cookware. That is, not the burner is heated, but the cookware itself.

You need to know! It is advisable to cook food on the hob in special dishes with a thickened bottom filled with a ferromagnetic alloy, which, in fact, is heated. The box with such cookware is marked with a spiral symbol. It is allowed to use ordinary dishes (the bottom should attract a magnet), but the efficiency of the device is significantly reduced.

Depending on the model, hobs can be equipped with 2 to 5 burners. Optionally, the burners can have a heating expansion zone, combined with each other into a large zone (Bridge function). The burners differ in shape and power, for which the induction coil is responsible.

To activate and control the operating modes of the hob, a touch panel is used, connected to the electronic module that controls the appliance. To prevent accidental inadvertent switching on of the appliance, the touch panel is locked.

New models of hobs Bosch, and other brands, in addition to the above, can be equipped with other useful functions:

  • adjust the power of a particular burner,
  • automatically control the boiling process,
  • turn off all burners for a while,
  • save energy – use residual heat,
  • integrate with the exhaust system to adjust its power,
  • track the operation of the hob via the Internet by installing an application on your smartphone, etc.

In order for the hob to serve for a long time, the equipment must be maintained and washed regularly. Induction hobs use glass ceramics that are resistant to temperature effects. The smooth surface is easy to clean even without the use of special tools.

Why may the sensor not work?
The control modules use 3 types of sensor technology:

1. Infrared sensors. They measure the pressure applied by the consumer using a beam of infrared radiation. Each sensor has a transmitter and a receiver.
2. Capacitive sensors. They measure the capacitance from the finger touch. A cylinder with foam directs this measurement to the working module.
3. Smart capacitive sensors. This sensor combines a capacitive sensor and a light symbol in
one control. The user controls the device by directly touching the luminous symbol.

If the sensor does not work in the hob, the reason may be:

Non-compliance with the rules of operation of household appliances or inattention of the user. If the hob sensors do not respond to the finger or do not work properly, the hobs do not necessarily need to be repaired; the reasons may be different:

The sensor reacts with a delay. In some models, the manufacturer specifically provides such a feature to avoid accidental activation of the device. This fact is checked in the operating instructions.

Child protection mode. Check if you may have forgotten to disable the child and animal protection mode.

Clogging of the outside and inside of the glass. Wipe off the dirt and check the hob sensor for proper operation.
Failure in the network. Reset the sensor panel by unplugging the device for 1-2 minutes.

Important! Remember, the touch panel is vulnerable to point impacts. It is not recommended to pour boiling water and install heavy kitchen utensils.

Damage to the electrical wiring. In case of short circuits, breakage, and disconnection of wires, the sensors stop responding to touch. The wires need to be rung. If you have little experience, it is better to entrust the repair to a specialist.

Failure of the control unit. For this reason, the sensors in the hob do not work: partially or altogether. The scanning frequency may change. The device malfunction can be determined only by an experienced specialist. The fault is eliminated by flashing, repairing, or replacing the module.

Problems with the sensor. This problem is faced by users of old models of hobs. Capacitors often burn in them. Other faults are determined using special measuring instruments.

Examples of user errors:

Error No. 1. The indicator E flashes on all the burners of the panel. All this is accompanied by a strong sound signal. These symptoms indicate that the burner selection sensor was accidentally pressed when the hob was switched on.

Error No. 2. The moment of switching on the hob is accompanied by a medium volume sound signal. This indicates that another sensor was held down at the same time when the hob was turned on.

In case of a malfunction of the sensor control of the hob, do not rush to change the entire module, because the repair of sensors is possible at the component level, which will save you money.
