There are a handful of different reasons why this may be happening. Here, we’ve compiled a list of top causes from the most likely to least likely reasons that occur refrigerator water dispenser not working. Check or verify each cause, starting with the most likely one.
  • Frozen Water Supply Tube
To determine if the water supply tube is frozen, disconnect the pipe at the bottom of the door and blow through it. If air does not pass, that means that the water supply tube is frozen and should be defrosted. Also, it could be due to improper temperatures, make sure the freezer is operating at the correct temperature. The freezer temperature should be maintained between 0 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Water Pressure
Check the water pressure. Sufficient water pressure must be maintained in the connected refrigerators for water to be supplied. Remove the water filter and check if the water supply is restored.
  •  Water Supply
Check if the dispenser tap is clogged. The external water supply should be properly connected to the refrigerator. The water supply valve (shut-off valve) should  be open. Make sure there are no obstructions in the water supply pipe and water pipe is not bent or squashed.
  • Water Filter
Make sure the internal water filter is correctly installed and locked. A clogged water filter can restrict the flow of water into the chiller dispenser and prevent it from functioning properly. The water filter should be changed every six months to maintain proper water flow and ensure water quality.
  • Door Switch
The door switch turns off the ice and water dispenser when the refrigerator door is open. If the door switch does not work, the water chiller will not turn on. To determine if the door switch is faulty, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the door switch is not continuous when the door switch is turned on, replace it.
