PRO 2
You have as usual loaded the dirty things into the washing machine, selected the program, and gave started washing. But after a while, you find that the washing machine has stopped with water, without completing the program. What to do? The answer is unambiguous – before you deal with what caused the problem, you must be sure to drain the water and remove the wet things. Otherwise, they will “fade”, and to the occurred problem will be added the need to get rid of unpleasant odor in the washing machine.

5 ways to forcibly drain a faulty washing machine

Regardless of what brand your washing machine is: Samsung, LG, Bosch, or any other, there are five basic ways to force water out of it. Before this procedure, disconnect the machine from the power supply and prepare a flat container for collecting water (for example, a basin) and a few well-absorbent rags. Important: To avoid electric shock, please do not neglect to unplug the washing machine. This is a matter of your life safety. Method 1 – through the drain hose The easiest and fastest way to remove water from the washing machine. Procedure: – Disconnect the hose from the back of the machine and, if it’s led into the sewer, pull it out of there; – position the hose below the level of the tank along its entire length; – Dip its end into the prepared container – the water should pour itself. In this way you can remove almost all the water from the drum, however, this method is not applicable to all models of washing machines. For example, in some models of Bosch, the drain hose has a special loop inside the body of the machine, the main purpose of which is to prevent unintentional drainage of water during washing. Therefore, it is not possible to remove water from the tank of such models through the drain hose. Method 2 – through the drain filter Almost all models of washing machines have a special filter that protects the drain pump from the ingress of small objects – coins, paper clips, etc. Typically, access to this filter is at the front at the bottom of the unit under a decorative hatch or panel. To drain the water through the pump filter, proceed as follows. Procedure: – Open the decorative hatch or remove the panel (you may have to use a flat screwdriver to do this); – Tilt the washing machine slightly on its side and lean it against the wall so that a container of water can be placed under the edge of the machine, be careful not to slip the machine; – Take hold of the filter handle, turn it counterclockwise (it is not necessary to unscrew it completely), and drain the water into the prepared container. The main disadvantage of this method is that a large amount of water can spill on the floor, and it will have to be removed by hand with a rag. Method 3 – through the emergency drain hose Some models of washing machines are equipped with a special tube for emergency water drainage. It is located next to the drain pump filter under a decorative hatch or panel on the front of the machine. To drain the water, pull the tube, remove the plug from it and drain the water into a prepared container. The main disadvantage is – because of the small diameter of the tube, drainage can take quite a long time. In addition, not all models of machines have a similar “option”. Method 4 – directly by opening the hatch If the previous methods did not help you to drain water from a broken washing machine, you can try to “solve the problem in head-on” – open the door and scoop water out of the drum manually. Procedure: – if the water level in the machine is above the bottom edge of the hatch, tilt the washing machine back and carefully lean it against the wall so that when you open the door water does not spill on the floor; – open the washing machine door; – scoop out the water with a ladle, mug, or jar. Of course, this method is not very convenient: it is long, it does not allow you to completely remove all the water, and, in addition, the door of the machine may be blocked even after unplugging. Method 5 – through the drainage pipe The last option, which should be resorted to if all four of the above methods failed or could not use them (for example, your machine does not have an emergency drain hose) – is forced water drainage through a drainage pipe. Note! As a rule, if when unscrewing the drain filter, water does not drain, this means that there is a clog in the drain nipple. Therefore, this method, in most cases, will not only help to drain the washing machine, but also eliminate the reason why the washing machine stopped with water. Procedure: – Remove the back of the washing machine and identify the drain spigot, it is located under the drum; – If possible, put some flat containers under the socket and put dry rags – there will be a flood; – Remove the clamp, with which the branch pipe connects to the pump, and disconnect the nipple, it should pour water; – If there is no water, then in the branch pipe clog; gently put your fingers inside the branch pipe and remove the clog. This method is certainly difficult to implement, but it allows you to completely drain the drum.

Below are the most common breakdowns, which lead to the fact that the machine stops draining water.

1. Pump breakage The drain pump has burned out, so the washing machine stops draining water. 2. The drain filter is clogged. The drain filter serves to protect the pump from small objects and debris that may be in the items being washed. The filter may have become clogged during use. It is not uncommon for an appliance repair service in San Diego to find coins, buttons, and toothpicks in it. 3. If the washing programmer (for mechanical washing machines) or control module is defective in electronic models, the washer-dryer should be out of order, but the programmer should be out of order. In this case, there is no signal from the board to the pump motor. As a result, it does not start, and the water does not drain. 4. Breakage of water level sensor. The level sensor is stuck in the position of an empty tank, so the washing machine has stopped with water and does not drain. Also, the water level sensor hose could be loose or damaged.
